TAJWID (PART 1)

INTRODUCTION

Tajwid on language, which is to beautify and refine.  In terms of the science of Tajwid is to remove every letter from its makhraj and fulfill the rights of every letter whether the original or the future.

Character at original letters is the characteristic that can't be separated such as syiddah (شدة)

Character at the future letters which the characteristics that occurs from the original characters such as thick's (تفخيم) character occurs from character of rise (استعلاء) and thin's (ترقيق) character occurs from the character of low (استفال). 


RULES OF TANWIN & NUN SAKINAH


1) Izhar Halqi - إظهار حلقي 

  • 'Izhar' means clear.
  • readings occur when "nun sakinah" or "tanwin" meet 'halqi' letters.
  • 'Halqi' letters are    ه غ خ حء ع 


2) Idgham - إدغام

  • Meaning, insert the first letter into the second letter in the meeting of similar or near or similar letters provided that the first letter of the "sukun" and the second are lined up

i. Idgham Ma'al Ghunnah - ادغام مع الغنة

  • "Nun sakinah" and "tanwin" need to be inserted to the letters with hum/buzz (dengung).
  • Reciting occurs when "nun sakinah" or "tanwin" meet with one of the letters :

  • Example : 


ii. Idgham Bilā Ghunnah - إدغام بلاغنة

  • "Nun sakinah" or "tanwin" need to be inserted into the letters without hum/buzz (dengung).
  • Reciting occurs when "nun sakinah" or "tanwin" meet with one of the letter : ل ر
  • Example : 





3) Iqlab - اقلاب

  • Occurs when "nun sakinah" or "tanwin" meet the letter ب

  • Reciting needs to be done by change "nun sakinah" or "tanwin" into ب be into م sound. It must sounds light and buzz for two "harakat" long. 

  • Example :

4) Ikhfa' Haqiqi - اخفاء حقيقي 

  • 'Ikhfa' means hide the first letter with the second letter.  
  • Occurs when "nun sakinah" or "tanwin" meets one of the 15 letters :                           ك ق ف ظ ط ض ص ش س ز ذ د ج ث ت    
  • Example :
